Amritsar: Punjab government has decided to revive the industry in the historical town of Sri Goindwal Sahib and prepared a comprehensive plan to allot land to industrial giants to set up their units, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said.

"The state government would allot plots to industrial giants, like Nerolac and Indian Oil Corporation, and other companies after a thermal plant is set up under the industrial revival plan at Goindwal Sahib," he told reporters after praying at the Golden Temple along with his wife and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Bada in Amritsar.

He said the second 'Progressive Punjab Investment Summit', to be held in October this year, will be a platform to showcase the investment opportunities in the state offering maximum incentives.

The Punjab government has received good response not only from industrial giants in the country but also from foreign countries like France, Poland, Hungary and Taiwan.

He further added that Volvo would set up a production unit in the state and a team from the company will visit the state in November to identify the suitable location.

Responding to a question about the rallies organised by former chief minister Amarinder Singh in the State, Mr Badal said that "he has only a single agenda to grab the captaincy of Punjab Congress from Partap Singh Bajwa".

"Both Captain (Amarinder Singh) and Bajwa were indulging in personal battle for their political survival and they have nothing to do with the people of Punjab," he added.

When asked about the alleged corruption charges on state BJP President Kamal Sharma's personal assistant and two other BJP leaders, Mr Badal said," Law will take its own course in the case that figures personal assistant to the saffron party's sate unit chief."

He also clarified that the case has nothing to do with Kamal Sharma but concerns the latter's personal assistant and others.
