Monsoon Session Of Parliament: Updates

On the penultimate day of the monsoon session in the Parliament, lawmakers in Lok Sabha are expected to discuss atrocities on dalits in different parts of the country. The bills for consideration and passing in Lok Sabha are, The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, The Mental Healthcare Bill, 2016 and  The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2016. The Rajya Sabha is looking at introducing The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

A bill that proposes six months' maternity leave for all working women has been passed by the Rajya Sabha. The amendments to Maternity Benefits Act has been drafted by Maneka Gandhi's Ministry for Women and Child Development.
