Delhi police speaks on alleged Lashkar recruiters in Muzaffarnagar: highlights
New Delhi: The Delhi Police are looking for alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba recruiters in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh after witnesses disclosed that two imams arrested for alleged links to the Pakistan-based terror outfit reached out to men from the district, sources say. Riots broke out in Muzaffarnagar in the first week of September and nearly 60 people were killed in the ensuing violence.

The special cell of Delhi police spoke to the media today. Here are the highlights:
  • Based on central intelligence agency inputs, we registered a case at police station special cell - under criminal conspiracy and membership of a banned terrorist organization.
  • During investigation we arrested two people - Mohammed Shahid, Mohammed Rashid from Mewat
  • We have checked their background and after investigation, we came to know that they were in contact with people in Muzaffarnagar.
  • We want to clarify that Liyaqat and Zameer (people who were approached) are not Muzaffarnagar riot victims. They do stay there but they are not riot victims.
