Tantrik kills client for fear of exposure

New Delhi: The fear of being exposed by a vegetable vendor whom he cheated of huge sums of money on the pretext of making him richer, led a 23-year-old tantrik to burn his client to death in the national capital, police said on Thursday.

Parvez, an occultist, was arrested yesterday for allegedly killing 35-year-old Ishtikar by setting him ablaze after drugging him on Tuesday night.

Parvez cheated Ishtikar, a vegetable vendor in East Delhi, by getting huge sums of money from him on the pretext of making him richer through tantra.

"After sometime, when Ishtikar felt that he has been cheated by Parvez and his friend Yakub, he threatened to take the matter to police. Hence they hatched a plan to get rid of Ishtikar," Sanjay Kumar Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-East District, said.

On the day of the incident, Parvez called Ishtikar to his office and gave him a drink laced with an intoxicant.

"After consuming it, Ishtikar became unconscious. Parvez and Yakub took Ishtikar on his motor cycle and poured some petrol on the body of Ishtikar. Thereafter they burned the body. They hid the motor cycle between the bushes in the jungle area and both ran away from the spot," he said.
