Jaipur: Rs 92 crore in a van and nowhere to go!

Jaipur: The police in Jaipur went into a tizzy late on Friday evening when a van carrying Rs 92 crore in cash of three banks of Alwar was found parked outside the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office. The city branch of the Central bank had refused to accept the deposit which did not arrive in time.

But after hours of convincing from the police, the RBI authorities agreed to allow the vehicle carrying the cash to be parked inside its premises. The van has now reached the RBI's Jaipur branch.

The van carrying the wads of currency notes stacked in 90 boxes was earlier left stranded in front of RBI office gate and was surrounded by armed policemen.

The cops earlier shifted the vehicle to the local police station for safety.

The RBI declined to accept the money brought from State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Grameen Bank branches in Alwar as the vehicle could not reach the RBI office by the deadline of 5 pm, police said.
