Bite into sugar-free ladoos this Diwali

Pune: Here is some good news for the diabetic community in the city: Laxmi Road-based Sarpotdar Caterers has introduced sugar-free motichur ladoos along with their fair price Diwali sweets packs.

The ladoos and Diwali packs would be available on demand through an SMS and their mobile ladoo selling counters. Sarpotdar Caterers proprietor, Kishor Sarpotdar, told DNA that the Poona Guest House (PGH) and Sarpotdar Caterers were providing Diwali snacks, including chivda, ladoos, shankarpali, karanji and chakli in a box of 1.25 kg for Rs200 on a no-profit basis.

Sarpotdar, who had successfully introduced mango modaks -- the favourite sweet of the elephant-headed god during the Ganesh festival -- said its success has inspired him to introduce something novel for Diwali.

Sarpotdar said he surveyed the market in and around Pune and not found any shop providing sugar-free motichur ladoos. "Working parents and small families do not allow people to make these sweets at home. Therefore, they prefer to buy ready-made mixed sweet boxes," Sarpotdar said.

People who cannot travel all the way to PGH at Belbaug Chowk on Laxmi Road could order the sweets by simply sending a text message on 9422080220. However, a minimum of 10 kg sweets will be delivered through this service.
