Bangalore: Missing caddie found dead in golf course pit

Bangalore: A two-day search for a missing caddie ended at a pit in Kodihalli golf course near the HAL Airport on Tuesday night.

The police said 25-year-old Mahadeva, was found dead in the pit under mysterious circumstances.

Mahadeva, left his residence in Talaghatta on Sunday night after asking his wife to cook chicken he had brought home for dinner. The deceased had said he would return soon. His wife, whose name was not revealed, cooked the chicken and waited for Mahadeva, who never returned.

A search for Mahadeva was launched soon after, with no result. The search was called off on Tuesday night, when training manager Veerabadrappa of the golf course contacted the HAL police with a complaint.

He informed the police that Mahadeva was found dead in a pit. The deceased, a senior caddie, had been associated with golf course, located behind Royal Arcade, for the past five years.

The police went to the scene and sent the body to the Bowring Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Mahadeva's body was on Monday handed over to his relatives after the autopsy.

The police said they were investigating the cause of the death. The investigators were waiting for the post-mortem examination report.
