Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh:

  • Around 6-6.30 pm, a girl with her colleague, went to Shakti Mills compound through Mahalaxmi station.
  • The building was dilapidated.
  • The girl was taking pictures. The accused came there and asked them how they could enter the building since it was Railway property. They also accused the boy of having been involved in a murder in the area few days ago.
  • One of the accused then tied the boy down with a belt.
  • They then took the girl 15-20 feet away and two of them stayed with the boy and then they committed the ghastly crime in turns.
  • Joint Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and twenty police teams formed. Forensic experts were called in at night.
  • This is a sensitive case. We cannot reveal more information about the accused.
  • One has been arrested and four others have been identified.
  • Our investigations are continuing. We are trying to find out more about the accused.
  • Sketches were made at night. On the basis of those sketches, one accused was arrested and he has named the others.
  • Property offences against two of the accused.
  • The owners of the building should have put up a signpost saying 'trespassing not allowed'.
  • The girl is composed and stable.
  • The statements given by the victims helped us to draw the sketches of accused and they were 20-25 per cent correct and with their help, we were able to track the accused.
  • Mumbai Police will do its best to collect all evidence so that a fool-proof case is made out and will seek maximum punishment.
  • We will request the government to conduct this case via a fast-track court.
  • Women are coming forward these days and lodging complaints. Our priority is their safety. We are doing our best to keep them safe and secure.
  • I don't think it is right to say that criminals are not scared of police.
  • The accused live in the vicinity of the area where the incident happened.
