India welcomes Nawaz Sharif's victory in Pakistan: who said what
New Delhi: India is watching even as Nawaz Sharif inches closer to becoming the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. A few Indian politicians have started congratulating Mr Sharif, even as he gets set for his new role.

Here are some of the reactions.

Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister: Congratulating Nawaz Sharif for his "emphatic victory" in Pakistan elections, Dr Singh invited Mr Sharif to visit India at a mutually convenient date.

Salman Khurshid, External Affairs Minister: India welcomes whatever result that comes out of a democratic election. Our government has had relations with Nawaz Sharif. From Prime Minister's side also congratulations will be offered to him. (Read more)

Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir (on Twitter): Congratulations to Nawaz Sharif. I hope he is now able to live up to his commitment to restart his peace process interrupted in 1999. I suppose we'll have to wait for a post election scenario to emerge in our country before any meaningful engagement can begin #IndoPak. (Read more)
