Security personnel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi today went into a tizzy after a bomb threat call was received by an airline at its airport office.
An anonymous caller rang up the airline Spicejet at around 1730 hours and told the staff that there was a bomb threat at the airport, CISF sources said.
CISF personnel, the bomb squad and Delhi police immediately launched searches at both Terminals 1-D (domestic) and T-3 (international) as also for unclaimed baggage.
Nothing was found after the searches by CISF and other agencies, the sources said, adding it was suspected to be a 'hoax call'.
They said the threat assessment committee, generally set up on receipt of a 'specific threat', was also not set up.
In security parlance, specific threats are those which are least common or unusual and considered most credible while non-specific threat are simple statements like a bomb has been placed and do not give any further information.
