Speed breaker kills Congress man in Bangalore

Bangalore: Gunashekar (36), an Indian Youth Congress (IYC) worker died on Wednesday  night when he fell from a bike. He was a resident of Kammanahalli in Bangalore, and was on his way to Chennai on an official trip. He died on the spot due to head injuries.

The incident occurred at around 11 pm when he was going with another IYC member Venkatesh, to the Cantonment Railway Station to board a Chennai train.

Venkatesh who was riding the bike failed to see the speed -breaker on Kodava Samaj Road near Vasanthnagar, and jumped over.

Gunashekar who was sitting behind fell from the bike and hit  his head on the ground.

Bystanders rushed him to the nearby Mahaveer Jain Hospital in an auto rickshaw, but the doctors declared him brought dead.

"Venkatesh who was riding the vehicle informed me about the incident and we rushed him to the hospital. He was a good friend of mine," said Suraj Hegde, a Youth Congress worker.

"I went and gave him the train ticket at 4 pm. I can't believe that he is dead. It's shocking. He had got married just two years ago and has a one-and-a-half-year-old kid," said J Saravanan, a friend.

Gunashekar was in charge of the Youth Congress membership drive for the Kerala State, and the Pradesh Returning Officer (PRO).
