Chinese premier Li Keqiang's visit: Protests in Delhi; security tightened
New Delhi: Tibetan organisations are staging protests in different parts of Delhi against the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to the national capital. The Delhi Police has already stepped up security with several routes, including ones near the Chinese embassy, shut.

Four metro stations, including the Race Course station near the PM's house, will also be closed for a few hours today. A large number of personnel have been deployed at Chinese embassy and the hotel where the Chinese Premier Li is staying.

Traffic diversions have also been enforced in several places due to the VVIP movement across the city. The carriageways of Sardar Patel Marg will be closed from Panchsheel Marg up to Dhaula Kuan. No traffic will be allowed on this stretch today.

The traffic police will today ensure unhindered movement on certain routes which include - Ring Road from Dhaula Kuan to AIIMS, Aurobindo Marg, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, Purana Qila Road, C-Hexagon, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Park Street, roundabout Shankar Road, Upper Ridge Road upto Dhaula Kuan.

The traffic police has advised people to avoid areas including Ring Road, Mathura Road, C-Hexagon, which shall be affected from 10 am to 3pm.

Mr Li is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from May 19 to May 21. From India, Mr Li will later go to Pakistan, Switzerland and Germany, reports Xinhua.
