For classes 1 to 4, the school will reopen on Wednesday.

On Sunday, nearly a hundred parents, accompanied by officials from the education and police departments, visited the school premises to check the security arrangements made by its management. Around 110 CCTVs are expected to be operational from today.

However not all parents are convinced that the school is safe for their children, with some having decided not to send their children back. One parent infact told NDTV that she will be sending her child to another school.

After the incident, the Bangalore police issued new security guidelines to city schools which include installing GPS and CCTV cameras in their buses, not allowing bus drivers to mingle with children and issuing identity cards to all those who come to pick up children. "I am issuing an order to all schools under the Karnataka Police act to implement certain guidelines. If they don't follow we will charge them under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code," Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddi said last week.

Angry parents and activists in Bangalore have been demanding action against the management of the private school - pointing out that the arrested teacher, a man named Mustafa, 32, had been sacked three years ago by another school for "gross misconduct."
