Do you often use TVs in hotel rooms? If yes, do you find most of them to be unsuited to the viewer's needs today? Indian entrepreneur and reality TV star Ashneer Grover's recent post about television sets in hotel rooms has sparked a viral debate on X (formerly Twitter). It has got people talking not only about the quality of amenities provided by hotels, but also about the need for specific types of upgrades. In his now-viral post, Ashneer complained about the outdated TVs still found in many hotel rooms in India. He also tagged two major hotel companies. He urged hotels to take advantage of the recent GST rate cuts to consider installing smart televisions in their rooms. He implies that the cost of doing so would not be too high.

Utilise the GST rate cuts. No one uses your outdated, slow TVs with your hotel software, menus, spa descriptions, 2 remotes and irritating set-top boxes."

Nothing kills the hotel experience faster than being stuck with clunky TVs and set-top boxes. At this point, people want to walk into a room, hit Netflix or YouTube, and unwind.

Very true upgrading to smart TVs is a small step but it can greatly improve guest experience and match modern hospitality standards
