If you have ever done the Mumbai to Alibaug route the old-fashioned way, you will know it is not exactly a quick escape. Between unpredictable traffic, winding roads, and the long drive through Pen, what is supposed to be a weekend getaway often starts with a test of patience. But now, the once-hectic journey across the Arabian Sea has turned into something smooth, scenic and surprisingly luxurious - all thanks to M2M Ferries.
Launched just a few years ago, M2M has quietly transformed how Mumbaikars travel to Alibaug. What used to be a tiring road trip can now be an easy, breezy 60-minute sea journey - complete with cafes, lounges and even pet-friendly zones.
The M2M Experience
M2M operates two ferries: M2M-1 and the all-new M2M Princess. Each one has its own vibe.
About M2M-1
On M2M-1, passengers can choose between three distinct seating options - Kushaq Zone, Kylaq Deck and Kodiaq Lounge. The Kushaq Zone features Meemos Cafe and relaxed lounge-style seating, perfect for those who want to sip coffee while soaking in the sea breeze. The Octavia Deck adds a fun twist with the Starboard Bar, while the Superb Lounge takes luxury up a notch as the most premium option onboard.
The ferry's spacious vehicle deck accommodates more than 125 cars, two-wheelers, and even bicycles - making it an ideal choice for those who want to drive around Alibaug after docking. Pets are welcome too, which is a big win for fur parents who hate leaving their companions behind.

About M2M Princess
The latest addition to the fleet, M2M Princess is designed with sleek interiors, curated dining, and four signature zones - Skoda Kylaq Zone, Skoda Kushaq Zone, Skoda Slavia Lounge and Skoda Kodiaq Lounge. This ferry feels like a boutique hotel on water.
Some of these sections feature fully reclining seats, and all carry that "business-class" energy. The on-deck cafes and curated bar add to the cruise-like vibe, while select zones even offer tableside service.

Fares For M2M Ferries
Luxury aside, M2M Ferries have managed to keep the pricing impressively reasonable.
- Fares start at ₹420 per person, while transporting a motorcycle costs just ₹210 onwards.
- A four-wheeler starts at ₹1,020, bicycles at ₹110, and pets at ₹310 onwards. (Electric scooters, though, are not allowed.)
- For larger vehicles like buses, prices go up to ₹4,500 onwards.
The Story Behind M2M Ferries
Interestingly, the M2M journey did not have the smoothest start. The service launched just as the pandemic began, when travel was at an all-time low. The team had to shut down operations for six months before resuming in August 2020, strictly following safety and hygiene protocols. Fast forward to today - M2M has successfully carried over 1 million passengers and 100,000 vehicles.
