Wrong Bus, Wet Socks And Hot Chocolate: Twinkle Khanna's Swiss Christmas Adventure

Actor and author Twinkle Khanna recently turned a simple travel mishap in Switzerland into a moment many travellers instantly related to, proving once again that the best holiday stories are rarely about perfect plans. In a video shared on Instagram, Khanna recounted her Christmas Eve attempt to reach Glacier 3000. Determined to see snow, the plan was made on impulse. "On Christmas Eve, we were determined to touch snow. So, impulsively, we took two trains," she wrote, sharing snippets from what she expected would be a straightforward journey.

It did not stay that way for long.

Twinkle Khanna revealed that she boarded a yellow bus filled with French skiers and tried confirming the route using what she described as her "best Inspector Clouseau French". When she asked if the bus was going to Glacier 3000, the response she received was a confident "oui". "It was a lie," she added dryly.

Soon enough, it became clear they were headed in the wrong direction and had to turn back. The original plan was scrapped, but the day was far from ruined. Instead of Glacier 3000, the detour led them to another snowy mountain, complete with a cabin car ride and a much slower pace.

The revised itinerary came with its own rewards. Khanna shared that they warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies at a chalet, leaning into the moment rather than rushing to correct the mistake.

Summing up the experience, she wrote, "When they say it's the journey and not the destination, I think they had this trip in mind. A day's journey, a lifetime memory and wet socks for a few hours."
