Venice has long been a dream destination for countless travellers. In recent times, one of the world's most beautiful and romantic cities is facing several challenges. Locals are pushing back against over-tourism and growing frustrated after a specific budget travel tip went viral. Venice is famous for its gondola rides, but now social media influencers are promoting a cheaper alternative. As per reports, instead of paying up to 90 euros (approx. Rs 8,000) for a 30-minute gondola ride, visitors are choosing traghetti, small ferries that cross the Grand Canal, for just 2 euros (approx. Rs 180) for tourists.

He added that this attraction has become extremely popular in Venice, creating difficulties for local residents. Authorities are now considering a hike in the prices of these affordable rides. "An increase would be justified since tourists are using the service as a substitute gondola ride," Simone Venturini, Venice's councillor for tourism, told The Times.
