Travellers departing from Delhi will soon notice a major addition to Terminal 3. Air India has introduced The Maharaja Lounge, its first flagship lounge at the airport, as part of its broader effort to upgrade its premium services. NDTV recently had an exclusive preview of the facility, offering an early look at what passengers can expect when it becomes operational starting February 16, 2026. Access will be available to First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Gold and Platinum members and eligible Star Alliance Gold travellers.
A New Facility At T3
Situated in the international pier of Terminal 3, the lounge spans approximately sixteen thousand square feet. According to Air India, the design attempts to combine contemporary elements with references to Indian art and cultural motifs. The project has been developed in collaboration with global design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates.

Spaces Designed For Different Types Of Travellers
The lounge has been divided into several dedicated zones, each built around a specific kind of passenger requirement. These include:
1. The Aviator's Bar
A bar area inspired by early chapters of Air India's aviation history, including JRD Tata's 1932 Karachi to Bombay flight. The ceiling design reflects the propeller of the former Puss Moth aircraft.
2. The Globetrotter's Study
A quiet section with bookshelves, workspaces, high-speed connectivity and multiple charging points. It is intended as a reading and working corner for passengers who require a quieter space.
3. The Serenity Area
A dimly lit section furnished with recliners, meant for travellers who wish to rest between flights.
4. The Crystal Bar (First Class section)
The central feature of the First Class area, with views of the tarmac from the adjoining seating and dining section. It includes a selection of champagnes and a list of classic and signature cocktails.
5. Sleep Suites (First Class)
Separate suites designed for passengers who need a short period of rest before boarding long-haul flights.

Food And Beverage Offerings
The Maharaja Lounge will provide both Indian and international dishes, including live cooking stations. A mobile Beverage on Wheels service will allow cocktails to be mixed and served directly at the passenger's seat. The lounge will also introduce a Tea Programme, where freshly brewed tea is served from a dedicated trolley, accompanied by small snacks. Specially designed Maharaja postcards will also be available for travellers who wish to take home a small souvenir.

The Mail Service
The lounge will also feature a small postal-themed element. Air India has introduced exclusive Maharaja-designed postcards that passengers can pick up and keep as souvenirs, adding a modest but distinctive detail to the overall experience.
The lounge is expected to be one of the more notable additions to Terminal 3 this year, offering another facility aimed at easing long-haul international travel from Delhi.
