- Etihad Airways cuts fares by up to 50% to boost travel amid Middle East tensions
- Reduced fares target long-haul routes from the UK to Asia and Australia
- Airline aims to return to pre-conflict occupancy levels with affordable pricing
Tensions in the Middle East, due to the ongoing war between the United States, Israel, and Iran, continue to affect global travel. With uncertainty around airspace, rising fuel costs, and cautious travellers, airlines have been seeing softer demand on several key international routes. Ticket prices have also been fluctuating due to added surcharges and operational challenges.
But even as the situation remains unpredictable, some airlines are trying to keep travellers interested, and one of them is Etihad Airways.
Etihad Slashes Fares To Boost Travel
In a move aimed at bringing passengers back, Etihad Airways has announced fare cuts of up to 50%. The decision comes just ahead of the busy summer travel season, when airlines usually see a spike in bookings.

The reduced fares cover several long-haul routes, especially from the UK to destinations across Asia and Australia, as per Travel + Leisure. The idea is simply to make travel more affordable at a time when many people are still unsure about flying.
Focus On Filling Seats Again
The airline is clearly looking to return to pre-conflict levels of occupancy. An insider told Britain's News, “As soon as travel picks up, we want to be back to flying planes at 100% capacity in all cabins, as we were before the conflict. These prices will help.”
This pricing strategy is not just about discounts but also about rebuilding confidence among travellers who may be delaying or cancelling their plans.

Airlines Turn Flexible, Etihad Goes Further
Several Middle Eastern carriers, including Emirates, Saudia, Gulf Air, and Air Arabia, have already introduced flexible booking options. These allow passengers to change travel dates without heavy penalties, making it easier to plan trips during uncertain times. However, Etihad's sharp price cuts take things a step further by directly addressing cost concerns
