The Delhi High Court has put on hold the 4-year jail term given to former Samata Party chief Jaya Jaitley in a corruption case related to a purported defence deal, a lawyer said. The high court has sought CBI's response on Jaya Jaitley's appeal challenging her conviction and sentence in the case.

Former BJP president Bangaru Laxman has been found guilty of accepting a bribe by a Delhi court. He has been convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act for misusing his office and for attempting to influence another public official. He has been arrested and will be sentenced today. Mr Laxman faces a maximum of seven years in jail.
