Kochi:
A 19-year-old Bangladesh girl, who was brought to Kerala after being promised a job, was on Thursday rescued from a house where she was being illegally kept for prostitution and police arrested three persons in this connection.
The girl, who hails from Joshur district of Bangladesh was offered some job in India and brought to Kolkata on December 17 last year. She worked for a while in Kolkata and Mumbai and was brought to Kerala after her local guardian was offered money, police said.
She was kept in illegal custody in a house at nearby Aluva district in Kochi by the three accused, including a woman, for immoral trafficking. The girl was also taken to different places, they said.
Police and local persons in the area got suspicious as vehicles used to come to the house at odd hours. The house was put under surveillance and was raided on Thursday morning and arrests were made, Aluva Circle Inspector, Jayakrishnan, told sources.
The girl is presently with the child-line foundation and would be transferred to a rescue home after being produced in the court.
The accused also used to solicit customers through internet, police said.
Cases under relevant sections of IPC, Immoral Traffic Prevention Act and Information Technology act have been registered against the three accused. Laptop and modem have been seized from the house, police said.
