16-year-old Pune student goes missing

Pune: Krishna Vitthal Gorad, a 16-year-old studying in class X at the Nutan Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa has been missing since January 1. He is the third student missing from the same school.

Parents of Gorad lodged a missing report at the Mundhwa police station on Monday. The incident has created tension in the Mundhwa. Police have now launched a search for Krishna, who left home around 10 pm on January 1 after having his dinner and did not return. Police said that Krishna took Rs 500 from a person known to him before he went missing.

Earlier, 12-year-old Dinesh Shinde, who was studying in class VII of the same school, went missing and was later found injured under suspicious conditions on the railway track in Mundhwa. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Shinde's parents had then alleged that he committed suicide after the some teachers scolded him for giving his friends a party in the classroom. Police are however investigating the case and are yet to confirm the cause of his death.

In the first week of December, 17-year-old Chetan Sunil Bhalerao, a student of class 10 from the same school went missing and was later found dead on the railway track. His parents had lodged a complaint against the school authorities alleging that he committed suicide due to harassment by teachers. The police then arrested the principal and two teachers of the Nutan Madhyamik Vidyalaya.
