The offices are the place where people spend a significant amount of time during the day. But does the office environment affect your skin? Well, a woman claims it does. Speaking to People, a woman named Noa Donlan has raised concerns about the impact of "office air" on her skin, hair, and overall appearance. She said that her skin feels fresh when she wakes up, but it worsens by the end of the day.

"It became obvious to me once I started working full-time four years ago," Donlan told the media outlet. "I'd leave the house feeling put together, but when I looked in the office bathroom mirror at 12 pm, my skin would be dry, my (now oily) hair would be flat, and I just wouldn't feel like myself anymore!"

"Normally, I would say this is normal for any person as they go about their day, but this felt different, and I'd find myself asking, 'Is this what I really look like?'"

She further stated that the problem persisted "even after changing office locations several times."

"It's already known that things like poor air circulation and sitting for long periods of time negatively impact our physical and mental health, but I started to feel like I could see it happening in real time when I looked in the office bathroom mirror," she said.

Videos on "Office Air" go viral

"I figured I can't be the only one experiencing this, and that's when I started creating content about it," she said.

Donlan has posted multiple videos on Office Air, and how to prepare accordingly, and surprisingly, the videos have gained significant traction with users sharing similar concerns, as one user said, "Bright red eyes for no reason too."

"I look like a sick Victorian child by lunch," another wrote.

Dryness, dullness, and irritation are common complaints, exacerbated by air conditioning and low humidity. Meanwhile, flat, dry hair can be a result of prolonged exposure to office air.

Air pollution can also lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. It is found that pollutants can clog pores and trigger acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Is there science behind it

Air pollution contains particulate matter (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide, and ozone, which can penetrate deep into the skin, causing oxidative stress and inflammation. This can lead to skin damage, premature aging, and even skin cancer.
