And then, this Sunday, when Shikhar Dhawan smashed 137 off 146 balls, helping India break a jinx against South Africa in the World Cup, social media got busy discussing how he met his wife and how she changed his life.
So, how did they meet? In the virtual world. According to a Guardian article that's doing the rounds on social media, Dhawan found Ayesha Mukherjee , his wife now, on Harbhajan Singh's Facebook friends' list and decided to send her a 'friend's request.'
And, that's how their love story started.
They got engaged in 2009, and married in 2012.
In an earlier interview, Dhawan had said that he met Ayesha on Facebook.
Mukherjee, of British-Bengali origin, is based out of Melbourne. She is a trained kickboxer and is quite a sports enthusiast, as these earlier
pictures show.
Dhawan's wife is 10 years elder to him and has two girls from a previous marriage. The couple now have a baby boy, Zoravar Dhawan.
Dhawan and his wife Ayesha share a deep passion for tattoos, although he has more tattoos than she does. The cricketer also has the name of his wife tattooed on his wrist.
