Sleepyheads, Get a Stranger to Wake You Instead of Your Regular Morning Alarm

New York: Wish to hear a stranger's voice instead of an alarm bell the first thing in the morning? Then the Wakie app is meant just for you.

Already available for download on android and windows phone, the app is now also on iOS, a mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc.

With a community of people across the world, your call to wake you up could come from anywhere across the world.

"A lot of people keep snoozing alarm clocks and still can't wake up," Hrachik Adjamian, Wakie's CEO and co-founder, was quoted as saying on TechCrunch.

"Our research shows that a one-minute talk to a stranger wakes your brain up with a 99 percent guarantee," he said.

"When someone asks you questions in the morning your brain has to wake up to answer. Also you try to be kind, you try to turn on your social pattern of behaviour. After the call, you can't sleep anymore even if you had a short sleep," he added.

Calls that come through the app are anonymous and no phone numbers are seen.

Alarm calls could be users' singing songs, telling jokes, reciting poems or any other creative ways to kickstart a day.

Presently, the users in India can only register to wake up people and not actually get wake-up calls for now.
