Election fever: Hair-raising loyalty!

Kolkata:
Some people wear their hearts on their sleeves. In this election season, in Howrah in West Bengal, they are wearing it on their heads.

Anil hates the summer and loves the Congress-Trinamool alliance. So he killed two birds with one stone - got a haircut and advertised who he supports this election.

"They are not allowing wall writing, nor hang up flags. So I decided to get the symbols on my head so people would get talking about it," said Anil.

The political haircut has become quite the trend, says Rabin Das, hair stylist at Howrah's Star Saloon who has become an expert in snipping hair into all kinds of political symbols.

"Actually, my side, all parties are the same. CPM supporters have come for the hammer, sickle and star symbol, others have come for the Trinamool logo and yet others for the hand," said Rabin Das.

With all the curbs on poll graffiti, politicians should be grateful for the free if hairy publicity. For these novel campaigners, a bad hair day is history unless, of course, there is a sudden change in their political allegiance.
