Mumbai: Actor given clean chit in father's murder case

Mumbai: Two days after his father was found murdered in his flat in Oshiwara, a suburb of Mumbai, actor Anuj Tikku who was earlier detained by the police, has been given a clean chit.

The two tenants living in the apartment have been arrested for the murder. When picked up by the police, Anuj had said that he was not aware his father had been murdered.

The body of Arunkumar Tikku, 61, was discovered lying in a pool of blood by a resident and a guard of the Samarth Aangan building on Saturday night. He had multiple stab wounds on his abdomen.

"When the cops went there, doors of the flats were locked. One of the doors was broken open when Arunkumar was found murdered. A knife was also recovered from the spot," said D K Rupwate, senior inspector at Oshiwara police station.

Anuj had rented out his flat to two paying guests less than a fortnight ago. The trio had gone missing since the incident took place.

The victim, a resident of Delhi, had come to Mumbai to settle a personal issue involving his son Anuj.

The police, meanwhile, say that the motive of the murder is still to be ascertained.

Anuj appeared in small roles in films like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shah Rukh Khan and in No One Killed Jessica.
