It may have originated in the 60s, but it was in fact in 2018 when we began seeing the trend make gradual comeback. However it was only in 2020 when the trend picked up quicker than ever. During the lockdown many even experimented with DIY tie-dye to while away time at home. Tie-dye sweatshirts and t-shirts became the most popular clothing pieces to own during the pandemic. Justin Bieber's launched his new collection of his label "Drew House" which definitely had a huge role to play with the boom.

2. Bike Shorts

Honestly, the Kardashian-Jenner clan could show up in anything and that could easily be declared the hottest fashion trend of the century. Something we'd probably never imagine to term as "fashion", bike shorts soon became the "it" thing everybody wanted in their closets. Soon there was a place for these shorts outside the gym and that was - brunch. Bike shorts became party essentials and there was no wat Bollywood was going to be left far behind, right? 3. Sweat-Suits

If there is one thing we definitely cannot possibly imagine life without is sweat-suits. It is easy to lounge in and stylish enough to head out in. Now that's what we call a win-win situation. And winning it surely was. Sweat-suits definitely made a special place in our lives because we obviously needed something comfy enough to lounge in our houses during the never-ending lockdown. Athleisure had made its place in and around the fashion scene in 2019 but it was definitely now that we needed it most. Athleisure is definitely one of those trends we most definitely can't get enough of and we hope to see in 2021 as well.

4. 90s Fashion

Whether it was a yearning of a comfortable and fuss-free life or just a general wanting of a happier time, either way, 90s sartorial style definitely made a warm comeback in 2020. Large collars, statement checks and oversized silhouettes ruled this fashion season. Even textures and fabrics like corduroy and flannel made a comeback in 2020 which were all peak 90s fashion statements. Casual or not, the lazy girls in us were glad these trends made their way back into 2020.

5. Cottagecore

In simpler terms, this trend features styles that were prevalent in the English countryside like high-neck collars with pleated necklines, ruched puffy sleeves and so on. These were primarily dull and boring and defined the women of the time to look their part. 2020 was definitely going to have it her way though. Peasant dresses and tops made a huge statement this year with floral and dainty pastel colour palettes that were sure to make you feel as fresh as a daisy. These were the ultimate statement making pieces for their elaborate pleated and cinched look that was feminine and gorgeous all at once.

6. Fancy Masks And Chains

Masks were undeniably the most essential part of our existence and there is no way we were going to make it boring. Why should our masks be boring when our outfits aren't? Masks became the new fashionable accessory that wasn't just going to have its time as an essential but also a part of your outfit. Statement masks and mask chains became the new accessory to own that wasn't just going to protect you from the virus but also take your overall looks to a few notches higher. Even wedding outfits were incomplete without a fancy mask to match it!

7. Tiger And Zebra Prints

Whether it was the famous Tiger King documentary that popularized this trend is debatable, but there is no question that this trend surely made the mark in 2020. Exaggerated animal prints were undeniably always a statement but have gradually become all the more famous this year. What better way than an animal print so strikingly unique to make heads turn? A simple top or a dress with this gorgeous print was more than enough to stand out from the crowd.

8. Fringes

Fringes first made its appearance during the Spring-Summer 2020 runway shows and slowly disappeared into thin air. Towards the end of the year fringes were something to look out for yet again and peaked like never before. It wasn't just something straight of the sets of the Wild Wild West but certainly a glam makeover which was party ready. Fringes even entered the Indian wear spectrum to add that glam touch to all festive outfits.

Love them or hate them, these were the most popular trend that may just crawl into 2021 as well.
