Urvashi Rautela made headlines with her jaw-dropping outfits at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival recently. While her off-duty fits and over-the-top accessories have been loved by many fashionistas, nothing beats the reptilian necklace which the actress wore on the first day of the festival. The crocodile necklace, which was reportedly by Cartier and was said to cost Rs. 276 crore, went viral in no time. The necklace has reportedly been crafted in gold and adorned with diamonds and cabochon emeralds.
Now, an Instagram Influencer Aditi Agrawal, famous for recreating celebrities' statement outfits and accessories, has come up with a DIY method to replicate the piece. Wondering what's the price of this DIY reptile necklace? Just Rs. 276. Aditi has posted a video, sharing the step-by-step process to make the necklace. First, she takes two rubber crocodiles, and paints them using a copper-colour spray. For the bling, she added golden and silver rhinestones on the scales of the crocodile. Next, to link the rubber toys together, Aditi made a hole each at the bottom and inserted a thick yellow wire. She used stapler pins to firmly attach the wire across the tails. To keep the two crocodiles connected from the front, Aditi added magnets. And, voila the DIY necklace was ready. “So I recreated this Crocodile Neckpiece worn by Urvashi Rautela at Cannes Film Festival which costed Rs. 276 Crore at just Rs. 276/- only,” she wrote.
As per Forbes, the necklace was designed by Mexican actress Maria Felix. The inspiration for the statement piece was the actress' pet baby crocodile. In 1975, Maria Felix walked into Cartier's Paris boutique with her pet baby crocodile and commissioned the necklace.
