Somethings never change and one of them is the fact that a girl can always dip into her mother's closet. That's true no matter how old she gets or even how famous she is. Salma Hayek has been a Hollywood legend and fashion force to be reckoned with, for decades now. It seems like the apple didn't fall far from the tree though. At the recent 2023 Academy Awards, her daughter Valentina Pinault made an appearance with her famous mother at the event. But that wasn't the only reason we had all our eyes on her.

Valentina and Salma were photographed both wearing red gowns on the white carpet of the most illustrious event in the world of cinema. However, the former's ensemble had quite the story behind it. Valentina's strapless red gown with a banded neckline and straight tulle silhouette was first worn by her mother in the year 1997. Click to the right and you'll see the archival photo of Salma wearing it with a matching stole draped across her arms. Back then, she teamed it with a purse, choker necklace, red lip and full head of curls. Stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray says in her Instagram caption, "We pulled this beautiful Isaac Mizrahi dress for Valentina from Salma's archive". Valentina went the classic route with a necklace and purse while styling her blonde locks in large waves. After all, no one does it like your own mom does.
Also in red was Salma besides her daughter. Loyal as ever, she picked a glitzy custom Gucci gown which featured a keyhole with a halter detail and fringe skirt. Her makeup look was in shades of bronze and brown which allowed the dress to steal the show.
