Lakme Fashion Week 2018 Day 1: Huma Qureshi Roots For Gen Next

Like every year, this Lakme Fashion Week is going to be a star studded one. On Day 1 in Mumbai, The very first show of the Lakme Fashion Week, showcasing the work of Gen Next designers, saw actor Huma Qureshi mark her presence. Huma said, "I think the Gen Next platform at Lakme is an amazing one. It helps young and upcoming designers. I had a friend who was showcasing, Two Point Two Studio, and I'm also wearing their lovely clothes. I'm just really excited." Well, Huma, that makes two of us. After all, Lakme Fashion Week with its star presence and season's latest fashion being showcased is really one to look forward to.

While the first day of Lakme fashion week will see many shows by celebrated designers such as Dhruv Kapoor, Urvashi Kaur, Ritu Kumar and Anita Dongre, the first show of Lakme Fashion Week was one that showcased the works of the Gen Next designers. Every season, the organisers of Lakme Fashion Week take pride in introducing a new batch of talented designers who showcase their designs in the slot titled Gen Next.

Inclusive and sustainable fashion are issues that seem to be picking up pace in the fashion world and fast. While we can't say just yet if we'll see enough of it by the designers at Lakme Fashion Week, Huma Qureshi definitely seemed to hope that she would. Talking about sustainable and eco-conscious fashion, she said, "I think environmental change is a major concern. It's not something of the future. It's a real possibility and it's happening and it's here and it's now. So I think it should reflect in our fashion choices as well. Beauty and fashion come with a lot of responsibility."

On a lighter note, Huma made sure to tell us what she's looking forward to in the Spring Summer fashion collections this time round. Much like many of us girls, Huma's wishing for colour and lots of it. Two thumbs up from us - colour is just what need after a season of wearing wintry navys, greys and blacks.

Huma attended Lakme Fashion Week with her brother Saqib Saleem. Other celebrities scheduled to attend in the next few days include Sushmita Sen, Swara Bhasker and Kareena Kapoor, who will be the showstopper at Anamika Khanna's grand finale on Sunday.
