Kourtney Kardashian pregnant: Her pregnancy reveal post goes viral

Pregnancy and gender reveal announcements call up all kinds of emotions from well-wishers both online and in person, but many celebrities have taken their child-bearing proclamations to a whole level. Take Kourtney Kardashian, for instance, whose incredibly heartwarming post garnered 5.8 million likes and about 70 million views in a day, just this past weekend. So we did a deep dive to find out which of these announcement posts were some of the most iconic, unique and memorable in recent history that could work to spark the imagination of soon-to-be moms and dads or simply pique the interest of fans. From creative and quirky to elegant and bold, these celebrities' announcements came in all shapes and sizes and each was received with nothing but support and encouragement from fans. Here's what we found, starting with the more traditional and building up to the creative climax.

1) ELEGANT BABY BUMP PHOTOS WITH ENDEARING CAPTIONS

From Sonam Kapoor to Gabriella Demetriades this category of pregnancy reveal posts is evidently popular as it is high value and gets tons of engagement with the added push of the emotion-heavy captions for those drama-loving fans.

2) PREGNANCY TEST, SONOGRAPHY, ULTRASOUND REVEAL POSTS

These, when done tastefully, can create a massive impact too. With Alia Bhatt, the likes came easy and the heart emoji said it all. Alec Baldwin's wife Hilaria Baldwin played with the ultrasound theme for her pregnancy announcement posts in a few different ways. We have one here below.

3) POSTS WITH GLAM PHOTO SHOOTS

Beyoncé first announced her pregnancy at the VMA's but this one on social media is iconic and went viral instantly. Nicki Minaj gave this glamourous mama a good run for her money with her equally stunning announcement post captioned simply "preggers." Beauty Marks Entertainment CEO, Ciara's pregnant vacation photoshoot makes a great announcement post too

4) BABY ATTIRE POSTS

Actresses Ileana D'Cruz and Lindsey Lohan's cute baby onesie posts say it all. Lindsey paired hers with a simple "coming soon" caption while Ileana's caption went one step further with "Coming soon.
Can't wait to meet you my little darling."

5) NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY POSTS

Anushka and Virat's "And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021" post was undoubtedly iconic and set the bar high on pregnancy posts that welcome a new member to the family. Gal Gadot's "Here we go again" was an endearing reflection on the multiplicity of emotional responses that come with deciding to embark on the parenting journey. Utkarsh Ambudkar's “Every day is ❤️. New monster coming soon" is hilarious and yet very much in the same vein of the growing family theme, while Jessica Alba's balloon post is all about letting the fun in the picture shine through.

6) GET THE OLDER SIBLING TO DO IT

While announcing the pregnancy of the second child, another popular trend among celebrity and non-celebrity parents alike is featuring one or more of the unborn baby's siblings in the post with a verbal or visual announcement. Mira and Shahid got creative with this one, colourful balloons included, while Mandy Moore took the 'Big Brother' printed shirt route. Both are fun and memorable posts.

7) CLEVER IMAGES

Then there's the 'let the picture say a thousand words and scream a hundred emotions' post. Queer Eye's, Tan France, did not hold back with his pregnancy announcement in which he superimposed the sonogram of the baby a surrogate mom was carrying for him and his partner. The caption explained further, but the image was enough to get all the attention. Kevin and Danielle Jonas' post summarised their current state of mind in one image while Olivia Wilde's post, could melt even a stone-cold heart. Not easy to forget these creative announcements.

8) TEXT ONLY

In an interview with Outlook Priyanka Chopra mentioned that she was accused of 'outsourcing' pregnancy, 'renting' a womb, and acquiring a 'ready-made baby' when she chose to go the surrogate route. So she kept her post simple, clear and to the point, almost like a statement to the press via post. It was all text.

9) GET CREATIVE WITH VIDEOS AND REELS

We came across some interesting videos and reels in our research but Kourtney Kardashian's pregnancy announcement post was a standout one. 5.8 million likes and about 70 million views in a day, just this past weekend. The post resonated with many Blink-182 fans too as it seemed to be a recreation of a scene from the band's 'All The Small Things' 90s Video. American model Karlie Kloss' "Good morning baby" video, though not nearly as dramatic, strikes all the right emotional chords.

10) GENDER REVEAL POSTS

Gender reveal posts and parties have gained popularity in India and there's no better way to get an adrenalin rush than from the suspenseful moment leading up to the gender reveal. So why wouldn't these celebrities share that on social media with fans too? Actress Kate Hudson and singer Kelly Rowland definitely did it in fun, creative ways. Kelly's post of dad-son shoes didn't even need the caption, "I'll be stunning like my daddy"

11) GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT

True, if morning sickness or momhood-related problems have got the better of you, or if tradition demands that other members of your family speak for you, then ask someone else to take on the responsibility of sharing the news. These celebs did.

Actress Esha Deol let her mother Hema Malini make the announcement, which she did on Twitter. "Deols and Takhtanis are overjoyed to announce that @Esha_Deol and Bharat are expecting their first baby. We thank you all for all your good wishes," tweeted Hema.

Amitabh Bachchan also took to Twitter to announce that his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai is expecting a baby and that he will soon become a grandfather.

Kareena Kapoor let Saif do the talking in a statement to the press "My wife and I would like to announce that we are expecting our first child in December. We would like to thank our well-wishers for their blessings and support and also the press for their discretion and patience.”

India Talisman Suni Chhetri's adorable gesture during an Intercontinental Football Match won hearts. After he scored a goal, he picked up the ball and tucked it under his shirt, and then blew a flying kiss at the cameras, silently announcing to the world that his wife was pregnant.

Many celebrities have often gone the tried and tested route of magazine covers or talk shows, to make their pregnancy widely known, such as Kirsten Dunst, who was featured on the cover of W magazine and Kelly Rowland who was featured on the cover of Women's Health and Sarah Snook, who revealed her pregnancy on the red carpet at the premiere of Succession's Season 4. But even these public announcements can be approached with some measure of creativity. Take Keke Palmer, for instance, who walked on set in the first segment of Saturday Night Live, acknowledged she was pregnant and then opened her coat to show her bump to the audience, who, of course, cheered and hooted in response. Scarlett Johansson's star hubby, Saturday Night Live cast member and writer, announced her pregnancy during one of his stand-up comedy routines. Katy Perry went one up on everyone and announced her new mum-to-be status in her own song called, 'Never Worn White.' She donned a giant dress, made of a wide selection of flowers, that was perfect for her massive baby bump at the time. Serena Williams showed up at the Met Gala 2013 pregnant and all 'coutured' up, while others have worn their baby bumps proudly on the red carpets at award functions and let the paparazzi's cameras do the talking.

Well, there you have it. That's a wide variety of ways that these celebrities have chosen to announce their life-changing foray into parenthood. Which of these would you choose?
