- Fatty liver results from excess fat in the liver causing inflammation and potential scarring
- She reversed her condition through exercise, healthy home-cooked meals, and discipline
"Discipline saved my life," said Sunaina Roshan, mapping her journey to reverse a grade 3 fatty liver diagnosis. For those who are unaware, fatty liver is a condition in which the liver accumulates excess fat, which can lead to inflammation and scarring over time if left unmanaged.
It is also one of the most common health issues that many people are battling today, thanks to a sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity, and unhealthy foods available at our doorstep with just a click of a button.
Sharing her journey, the film producer, who calls her brother Hrithik Roshan her "rock," recently took to Instagram to explain how she reversed her condition. Yes, it is manageable if timely measures are taken and one listens to the signals their body is sending.
Sunaina Roshan's Struggles With Fatty Liver
"I was diagnosed with grade 3 fatty liver. I was addicted to junk food, and alcohol addiction made it even worse," she said in her video. Processed foods and alcohol are significant contributors to this condition.
"And I didn't realise how much it was affecting my body. When I saw my reports, I had two choices - ignore them or heal my body. So, I made one decision," she noted.
How Sunaina Khan Reversed Grade 3 Fatty Liver
If a person continues heavy alcohol consumption, is obese, and does not monitor blood sugar levels, the condition can worsen and progress to liver damage. The good news is that it is often reversible, especially when addressed early, by improving lifestyle habits - which is exactly what Sunaina Roshan did.
"Exercising regularly, eating healthy but delicious home-cooked meals, and choosing my health first," she shared.
"I trained, I moved, I showed up even when I didn't feel like it. And I managed to reverse my grade 3 fatty liver through my unbreakable spirit. If your body is asking you to change, listen and act on it," the film producer added.
According to a Cleveland Clinic report, the condition can be managed by losing weight, avoiding alcohol, taking medication to manage chronic health issues such as diabetes or high cholesterol, and getting vaccinated for hepatitis A and B.
