How To Recharge Your Relationship In 30 Days

It's never too late to bring back the spark

How To Recharge Your Relationship In 30 Days
A little bit of extra effort can make your relationship feel new again

There comes a time in every relationship when things get a bit, for the want of a better word, monotonous. You fall into a rut, become predictable and, let's be honest, a little bit lazy. If you want this new year to be just like those first few days when you met your partner, here is a 10-step plan for you to make it happen. And yes, you can complete all of these things in 30 days!

Step 1: Disconnect

It's not too over-the-top to turn off your devices when you're with your partner. They deserve your full attention when you're with them. But sometimes we just tend to forget about it. Next time he checks his texts, don't automatically use the moment to check your email. Point it out to him, request for a timeout from phones and try again.

Step 2: Take a break

Take the weekend to work on your relationship - away from the city, away from your daily struggles. Plan a staycation somewhere close and just talk to each other. About the things you would like to do again, the most exciting and special moments of your relationship.

Step 3: Bring back date night

Not just pizza on the couch. Ask your partner if they would like to have dinner with you. Make reservations, put on a fancy dress, be ready with the whole works. Do it once a week. And the butterflies, spark, blushing - it'll all come back slowly.

Step 4: Write letters instead of texting each other

Again, once a week would be enough, but the more the better, we say. You don't have to make it too fancy, with handmade paper or anything. Pen down things when you miss each other and exchange the letters/ notes when you meet next. You'll be smiling all night long.

Step 5: Finding reasons to touch more

Not sexually, no. Make some simple rules. Like always holding hand when you're taking a cab together. Or giving each other head massages on Sundays. Or hugging each other for minimum 5 seconds every time you meet and say goodnight. A little ritual like this can create sparks.

Step 6: Find a common hobby

Going to the gym together, playing tennis, horse riding, painting, pottery... Maybe even being part of a book club. Find something you're both interested in and try it together. It'll be a whole new bonding experience.

Step 7: Get some alone time

A relationship isn't just about what the two of you share together. It's about how you both feel individually as well. Take some space, give yourself some time to be independently happy. Connecting with yourself can help you reconnect with your partner.

Step 8: Surprise each other

Plan a surprise night and keep things super secret. Decide on a challenge - it could be the budget or a theme. Give each other 3-4 days to plan and do the best you can with it. Trust us, it'll be worth all the drama when you feel as excited as an 8-year-old on Christmas.

Step 9: Be strangers

Role play doesn't always have to be kinky, you know. You can recreate the first night you met, go back to the same place, pretend to be stranger and fall in love all over again. Sure, it doesn't work the way it does in movies - you'll be laughing way too much and you must have forgotten half the details. But do it anyway.

Step 10: Think outside the box

We can give you many ideas, but one that would really work for your is the one that comes from your heart. Be honest about exactly what you need in the relationship to feel excited and happy about it again. And then do it!
