What's the best way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon in peak summer? Yes, you could of course drag yourself to a movie for some sweet respite from the heat. But an even better plan is to lounge in a cane chair on the balcony with a book in one hand and an icy cooler in the other. Sounds good, right? To add a lip smacking touch to your next afternoon plan, try these four summer coolers and watch everyone demand a second glass.
1. Fizzy Masala Lemonade
What's even better than regular lemonade is one with a spicy kick to it. To make it, mix one cup of plain soda with quarter cup of freshly squeezed lime juice. Stir to combine and then add either sugar syrup or salt, as per your taste. For the finishing touch, add quarter teaspoon of chaat masala and a pinch of chilly powder. Spice lovers, you're most welcome.
2. Mint And Lemon Tea
Fancy a tea party in summer? Then try this cool version of the drink. In a pot, brew a few cups of water and add a palmful of mint leaves, three to four lemon slices and two tablespoons of black tea to it. Turn off once it bubbles, stir in honey for taste and leave it to cool. Once cold, strain the leaves and serve in tea cups with a sprig of mint on top.
3. Watermelon Slushie
Cut out chunks of a fresh watermelon, remove the seeds and place two cups of them in the freezer for three hours. Once done, in a blender add the watermelon pieces, one cup of pomegranate juice and half a cup of ice cubes. Blend until it is of thick consistency and serve in tall glasses with a small watermelon wedge.
4. Mango Milkshake
It wouldn't be summer without a tall, creamy glass of mango milkshake. To make the real deal (rather than the synthetic tasting store version), first gather your ingredients. You will need one cup of mango chunks (low fibrous variety of mango works best), one cup of milk, a pinch of cardamom powder and quarter teaspoon of chopped almonds. In a blender, first churn the mango chunks until it forms a smooth paste. Then add the milk and cardamom powder to it and blend for a few pulses until it's a creamy liquid. Pour into glasses and garnish with chopped almonds.
Even the hottest day won't bother you anymore with these cooling treats.
