Disha Patani looked elegant dressed in an ivory kimono with a rose coloured belt. The quintessentially Japanese wrap-around ensemble featured intricate floral embroidery on it which added more character. It was synched on the waist with a broad silk belt in rose pink colour and featured a standing collar neckline. Disha accessorised her OOTD in Kyoto with a bunch of Japanese carnations and apricot flowers on one side of her low bun. For her glam picks of the day, Disha kept things simple with beaming moisturised skin, defined brows and a juicy berry lip gloss to complete the look.

Here's all you need to know about this traditional costume from the land of the cherry blossoms.

  1. The kimono is a traditional Japanese garment as well as the national dress of the country. It is a front-wrapped ensemble with square sleeves and a rectangular shaped bodice.
  2. It is worn by wrapping the left side over the right, as per custom, unless the wearer is no longer alive.
  3. The kimono is traditionally teamed with a broad sash called the obi in Japanese and it is commonly paired with accessories such as the zori sandals and tabi socks, all of which are indigenous to Japan.
  4. The history of kimonos can be tracked back to the Helan period between 794 AD to 1185 AD. This was a time when Japan's nobility embraced this distinctive style of clothing.
  5. Despite a very small number of people wearing it, the kimono has still witnessed coming back in vogue in Japan's society multiple times in the past decades. It is still contemporarily worn as a fashionable clothing in Japan.

Disha Patani amped up the fashion quotient of her Kyoto vacation by donning the traditional Japanese avatar in a kimono.
