The topic of egg freezing has recently been discussed more openly by celebrities. Ram Charan's wife Upasana is the latest to do so, in a recent interview with Mid-Day. Talking about thoughtfully planning her family, Upasana said, "Ram and I took a call very early in our marriage where we definitely believed in storing our eggs. We did that previously for various reasons. We realized that we needed to focus on our careers at that point in time. He was in the middle of shoots, I was building my career and today both of us are at a stable place where we can afford to take care of the child with the income we are generating by ourselves." Upasana Kamineni and Ram Charan married in 2012 and are expecting their first child in 2023.

Not many vocally address the challenge that young women face when they want to balance a busy career with growing their families at the right time. But more celebrities are airing their views about it. When Priyanka Chopra was interviewed on Armchair Expert by Dax Shephard, she said, "It gets so much harder to get pregnant after 35 and to carry to term and all of that, especially with women that have been working all their lives. It's the best gift you'll give yourself because you're taking the power from your biological clock, and you can work for however long you want. Your eggs will still be the same age as when you froze them."
Egg freezing is the process of freezing unfertilised eggs to preserve them for future use. It is steadily being considered as an option to delay childbearing for physical, monetary, professional and personal reasons.
