6 Ways To Detangle Knotted Hair
Knots and tangles, be gone

So you've gone ahead and done it all. You've left the window down on 18 hour road trips, never hydrated your locks and not even maintained a healthy hair care routine. Now you're left with knots and tangled hair. The harder you pull, the tighter they seem to get. So how can you fix them once and for all? We've got the answers. Find out how to detangle knotted, damaged hair in 6 ways.

1. Comb Hair

For tangled hair, skip past a hair brush and instead opt for a wide-tooth comb. It has a much wider gap between bristles which helps to slowly undo the knots without putting too much pressure and breaking the delicate strand.

2. Work Dry

Avoid doing anything to your hair when wet as this is when the strand is at its weakest and most susceptible to breakage. All detangling much be done when the hair is dry or at least damp.

3. Dry Right

When drying hair, avoid harshly rubbing it in between a towel. Not only is this when hair is most elastic and prone to breakage, rubbing it can also directly cause tangles to form. Dry by dabbing the hair length between the towel.

4. Hydrate Please

Hair that is devoid of hydration is more likely to get knotted. That's reason enough to condition hair daily and use a hair mask regularly. This will make hair smoother and more manageable to detangle.

5. Sleep Right

At bedtime, braid your hair in a loose plait and then sleep. Loose hair has more chance of tangling as you constantly change your sleeping position through the night. A braid will keep it together without restricting any movement.

6. Make It Luxe

Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase. The surface is silky and less likely to create friction and further, lead to knots in the hair.
