3 Ways To Keep A Long-Distance Friendship Strong
Do things together once a while, virtually

A new job, resettlement, marriage - sometimes, for whatever reasons, our friends move cities, they move countries. That is a time when one is torn between feeling all kinds of happiness for the friend and wondering whether the friendship will stay the way it was. There are doubts and uncertainties about whether the bond two people share will survive this test of distance, and sometimes different time zones. Many people who have been through this will tell you that things change - of course they do. Sometimes people grow apart, sometimes it is only a matter of time when they come back together and it feels like nothing has changed.

But in any case, there are ways to maintain a long-distance friendship. Friendships aren't as high maintenance but a little effort from both sides and you are sorted.

Set a time aside for calls

Video calls, Skype calls, phone calls - set aside a time in the week that's convenient for both of you. This is your window to share everything that is happening, to catch up, to check up on each other.

Do things together once a while

Yes, you are far, but hey, technology! When you are on that video call, how about watch a movie together or maybe cook a common recipe. That way you get to spend some quality time together even if it is virtual.

Keep the sweet things going

Even during the week, stay in touch over texts. Don't shy away from sending them silly photos, life updates, videos and all so that they know what's going on in your life. Make a genuine effort to keep in touch with what they are going through, and that goes a long way.
