After the mysterious death of legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak's granddaughter Aditi, her family members have lodged a police complaint alleging foul play.
"An injured and unconscious Aditi was discovered beside the road in Sonarpur (city outskirt) on Friday. She was admitted to a private nursing home where she died on Sunday," an officer of the Tiljala police station, under which the complaint was made, said.
"The mother of the victim, Sangeeta, has filed a first information report (FIR) alleging murder against three persons with whom Aditi had gone out on Friday," added the officer.
19-year-old Aditi had gone out Friday night with four of her friends including a boy without informing her mother. After she did not return, her mother filed a missing person case.
"If she had met with an accident, then why was she found alone at the site? How come nothing happened to the others? There is something wrong," alleged Sangeeta who filed the FIR on Sunday.
State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim visited the bereaved and has asked police to expedite the probe.
