New Delhi: Here is an important update for the tech job seekers in India. After a report suggested top Indian startups with valuation of over USD 1 billion each are on a hiring spree, Samsung India, the Indian arm of South Korean multinational conglomerate, is now planning to hire 1,000 graduates from top engineering colleges across the country next year. According to a top Samsung official, over 300 of them will be coming in from various IITs, reported Press Trust of India.

Samsung India will hire a majority of these engineers from new-age domains like artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), Biometrics, Natural Language Processing, Augmented Reality and networks including 5G.

Apart from the premier Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs), the electronics company will also be hiring talent from institutes like Delhi College of Engineering, BITS Pilani, Manipal Institute of Technology and IIITs among others, reports PTI.

Last year, Samsung India had hired 800 engineering graduates for its Research and Development (R&D) facilities in India.

"Samsung is extremely bullish on R&D in India. We have been here for over 22 years. The three R&D centres in India work on several cutting-edge technologies," Samsung Global SVP and MD of Samsung R&D Institute India, Bengaluru Dipesh Shah told PTI.

According to recent data from global job site Indeed, four unicorns - Snapdeal, PayTM, ShopClues and Flipkart - make up around 90 per cent of all job postings.

A unicorn is a startup company valued at more than a billion dollars, typically in the software or technology sector.

Last year, Samsung India had hired 800 engineering graduates for its Research and Development (R&D) facilities in India, out of which 300 were from IITs.

Samsung has three R&D centres in India at Bengaluru (largest outside Korea), Noida and Delhi. Globally, it has a total of 32 R&D centres.

While the Bengaluru centre has expertise in areas like AI, ML and IoT, the Noida facility plays key role in development of biometrics, mobile software development, multimedia and data security.
