Crane Deployed by Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Falls, None Injured

Jaipur: A heavy crane deployed for civil works by Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation in the walled city fell on a temple and an adjoining house in the wee hours today but no one was injured in the incident, police said.

A major portion of 250-year-old Naval Kishore Temple was damaged while an adjacent building, Udai Haveli, remained intact, police said.

Meanwhile, officials of Jaipur Metro apprised Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje that a part of the crane had fallen on a residential building around 1 am.

At a meeting called by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje this afternoon, officials said the officials of Jaipur Metro and police had reached the spot soon after the incident. District Collector Krishna Kunal said seven families affected by the accident have been shifted to nearby the Maheshwari Sadan and arrangements have been made for food and other necessities.

Second phase of Jaipur Metro from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar is underway despite protest by local residents, shopkeepers and heritage lovers.

A private company Continental Engineering Corporation was undertaking the civil work and movement of cranes in the area.

First phase of Jaipur Metro from Mansarovar to Chandpole has already been given a green signal by Railway securities recently.
