Washington: US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, the first ever Hindu to be elected to the US House of Representatives, has said she is looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Silicon Valley during his second visit to the US later this month.

"I am looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi back here to the United States in just a few short weeks," Ms Gabbard said in a video statement.

Later this month he would be visiting Silicon Valley, and meeting a variety of tech entrepreneurs and CEOs, seeing how we can further develop partnerships that will benefit both the United States and India's economy," she said.

"I am looking forward to seeing all of you on September 27, at the SAP Center in San Jose where I know will give Prime Minister Modi another very warm welcome," ms Gabbard said.

Meanwhile, more than 1200 people from various walks of life have signed up as volunteer for the September 27 reception for Mr Modi in the Silicon Valley, organisers of the event said.

Some 18,500 people are expected to attend the event. More than 45,000 people had signed up for this event.

This would be Mr Modi's second address to the Indian American community in the United States after he became the Prime Minister in May 2014.

Last year, he was given a rousing reception at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
