Mumbai, Delhi-NCR Monsoon Alert Live Updates: Rain brought relief from the heat in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue red and orange alerts for rainfall and strong winds across the city.
According to the IMD's district-level nowcast, parts of north Delhi were placed under a red alert, with moderate rain at several locations and heavy rain at isolated places likely, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds of up to 70 kmph.
The rest of the national capital was put under an orange alert, with moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 50-60 kmph expected in most areas.
The weather department has predicted generally cloudy skies and moderate rainfall through the day, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 36 degrees Celsius.

The Met Department on Tuesday predicted heavy rain in north Bengal districts, warning that this is likely to cause landslides in the hill areas while the water level in rivers may rise beyond the danger limit.
It also ruled out the possibility of heavy rain in south Bengal districts for now.
"The depression is clearing over south Bengal districts. Therefore, heavy rain is unlikely. Scattered light to moderate rain will continue. However, heavy rain has been predicted in north Bengal, which could swell rivers and cause landslides. Specific warning for rain has been issued," a Met Department official said.
In north Bengal, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri districts on Tuesday. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in the remaining districts. However, a red alert has been issued for five hill districts on Wednesday as very heavy rain is likely. A yellow alert for heavy rain has also been issued in North Dinajpur district.

Weather Today Live Updates: Red Alert Issued In Wayanad Following Heavy Rains, Landslide
A red alert was issued by the IMD on Tuesday in Kerala's Wayanad district, where very heavy rainfall was received in Mananthavady and Vythiri areas during the day.
The alert was issued at 12.30 pm after the landslide at the Kalladi tunnel project site in Wayanad at around 11 am.
A red alert was also sounded in the neighbouring Kozhikode district by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), while orange alerts were issued in the Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of the state.
The Mananthavady area received 64 mm of rainfall, and Vythiri received 123 mm during the day.
A red alert indicates extremely heavy rainfall of over 204 mm in 24 hours, while an orange alert means very heavy rain of 115 mm to 204 mm, and a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 64 mm to 115 mm.

Weather Today Live Updates: Karjat-Lonavala Train Op Disruption Due To Landslides
Multiple landslides were triggered in the Karjat-Lonavala Ghat section on the Mumbai-Pune line after it received a whopping 600 millimetres of rainfall in a 24-hour period, severely disrupting rail traffic, Central Railway officials said on Monday.
The Ghat section had also received around 300 mm of rainfall the previous day, CR Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila said.
"About 160 mm of rain fell in the first four hours on Sunday, leading to landslides at multiple vulnerable locations. The first landslide occurred near Thakurwadi, impacting all three lines in Bhor Ghat, followed by another between Monkey Hill and Khandala," he pointed out.
A tree also fell on the down main line near Khandala station later in the day, he said.
"Tracks have suffered extensive damage at some locations but prompt restoration work has been undertaken despite incessant rain in the Ghat section since early morning," Nila said.
However, CR officials have not given any time limit by when rail operations on the vital stretch connecting Mumbai and Pune, two of Maharashtra's biggest cities, will begin.

Highlighting that the next 48 hours are highly critical for both coastal districts, Minister Tatkare stated that the local administration has been strictly instructed to implement all necessary precautionary measures immediately.
To tackle potential rain-related emergencies, a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been stationed in Mahad and kept ready. Furthermore, to ensure a swift and effective response in the Sudhagad and Roha regions, the minister said a formal request has been made to deploy an additional contingent of 145 rescue personnel.
