This man says he was driving BMW that killed pregnant woman in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: One week after Gurgaon resident Kshama Chopra and her driver were killed by a speeding BMW, a close aide of the car owner Devender Sehrawat, surrendered at a court in Gurgaon and applied for anticipatory bail on Saturday. The plea comes up for hearing on Monday. The man identified as Rajesh, claims he was driving the car that killed two people and injured three others.

However, sources say this could be a cover up to save Mr Sehrawat's son. Initially it was reported that his son was at the wheel, when the gruesome accident happened on May 5. Over the last one week, the police haven't managed to question anybody in the case.

Kshama Chopra who was pregnant was returning after a routine medical check-up along with her husband and his parents when the Tata Indigo they were travelling in was hit by the speeding BMW.

On Friday, Maheshwar Dayal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) admitted that there had been a delay. He also added that the car owners were taking advantage of certain loopholes in the law to delay their questioning.  The police say the owners' haven't even responded to police summons.

Rajesh, who now claims to be the driver of the car, will be the first to be interrogated. The police are yet to record the testimony of eye-witnesses and interview the other passengers in the BMW.

Kshama's husband is still in the ICU with multiple fractures.  His father suffered a broken backbone; his mother too is battling for her life in hospital.

Outraged over the alleged police inaction, Kshama's family and friends have set up a signature campaign demanding justice for her. A petition on website www.thepetition.com asks for people to sign up and demand urgent action and investigation in the case.
