New Delhi:
Delhi police on Tuesday told a court here that the alleged Pakistan-based HUJI terrorists, accused of conspiring to kidnap cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, led the investigators to recover a huge cache of arms and explosives from a place in Uttar Pradesh.
The six Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HUJI) terrorists, including three Pakistan nationals, led police personnel to a place at Saharanpur in UP from where arms, ammunitions and explosives were recovered, the public prosecutor told Additional Sessions Judge Pinki.
The accused, who were in constant touch with their Pakistan-based handlers through the Internet, told interrogators their e-mail IDs and respective passwords, disclosing their nefarious activities, prosecutor Anita Hooda submitted.
It also helped the police in recovering crucial documents, she said while advancing final arguments in the case.
Three Pakistan-based militants had confessed that they conspired to kidnap cricketers for securing the release of two jailed HUJI terrorists Nasarullah Langrial and Abdul Rahim who were then lodged in Indian jails, she has said.
She had referred to confessional statements of Pakistan nationals Tariq Mohammed, Arshad Khan and Ashfaq Ahmed.
Their confessional statements were recorded on February 13, 2002 by a senior police officer after they were arrested at Nizamuddin railway station here on January 31 same year, minutes before boarding an Agra-bound train.
