Suspending cops is not enough, says woman who was hit by officers
Tarn Taran: The woman who was attacked by policemen in Punjab - they hit her over and over - has said that it's not enough that two officers have been suspended for the assault. She says they must be fired.

"This incident changed my life," she told NDTV, "I want justice."

A man with a cellphone shot the woman being hit.

Her family says that they were on their way back from a wedding party when truck drivers began harassing the woman at Tarn Taran near Amritsar. When they asked constables on the road for help, the woman's father and brother say they were hit. When she tried to intervene, they allege, two cops turned on her.

Police sources say the woman's father was drunk and was causing a nuisance. They claim the woman tried to prevent her father's arrest and that is when the officers hit her. They agreed that the police's behaviour was unjustifiable.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has now ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
