State transport employees lathi-charged in Jammu

Jammu: The protesting Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation employees were lathi-charged by the police outside the civil secretariat in Jammu.

The employees of the corporation are on an indefinite strike for more than two months.

They are demanding release of salary on a regular basis along with the benefits of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.

So far the representatives of the employees and the government have held several rounds of talks, but the benefit of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations is emerging as the major hurdle in ending the strike.
