Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 LIVE Updates: The NDA Parliamentary Party's 'Mangal Milan' meeting began in Parliament on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other NDA leaders in attendance.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin was also in attendance at the meeting being held at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building.
Earlier, Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay also arrived at the Parliament Library Building to attend the NDA Parliamentary Party's weekly 'Mangal Milan' meeting.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Bandyopadhyay said, "I will attend the NDA parliamentary party meeting for the first time today. I am one of the senior-most parliamentarians in the country. All are united in NCPI."
Earlier, three of NCPI leaders belonging to the minority community skipped the NDA 'Mangal Milan' meeting held last week. The party has sought to reject speculation of a rift, but Trinamool Congress leaders said that the three parliamentarians do not wish to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
NCPI leaders Abu Taher Khan, Khalilur Rahman, and Yusuf Pathan did not attend the NDA meeting, the first time the party had attended the meeting of the ruling alliance at the Centre.
Twenty rebel Trinamool Congress MPs had left the party after its defeat in the assembly polls and announced that they are joining the Nationalist Citizens Party of India. The party said it will support the NDA.
However, the meeting concluded with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju addressing the coalition lawmakers in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal and Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh also addressed the gathering.

Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: Opposition Protest In Parliament Complex On Ram Temple Donation Theft Issue
Opposition MPs, including Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested in Parliament House complex on Tuesday against the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and "police excesses" against student protesters.
Carrying placards against the government, MPs protested in front of the Makar Dwar of Parliament with slogans such as 'chhanda chor, gaddi chor' and 'Amit Shah jawaab do' raised.
The MPs also kept donation boxes at the spot to symbolise the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple and lined up around them to raise slogans against the government. Some MPs also put cash in the box to symbolise the donations made and "theft" that took place later.
Besides Priyanka Gandhi, SP's Dimple Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav, TMC's Sagarika Ghose, RJD's Sanjay Yadav and Manoj Jha, RSP's NK Premchandran, among others, participated in the protest.
The protesting MPs lined up behind a big banner that read 'Why Amit Shah absent from Parliament', and raised slogans against the Home Minister.

Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: Congress Stalling Parliament, Blocking Debate On Key Bills: BJP
The BJP on Tuesday accused the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies of deliberately disrupting the Monsoon Session of Parliament, alleging that their conduct has prevented discussions on key Bills and exposed the Opposition's "double standards" on issues such as paper leaks and student protests.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, BJP national spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra alleged that despite crores of rupees being spent on every session of Parliament, Question Hour and Zero Hour have been repeatedly disrupted, depriving MPs of an opportunity to raise issues concerning their constituencies.
"The way the 2026 Monsoon Session of Parliament is progressing, and the manner in which the Congress party, along with some of its alliance partners, is disrupting the session, is a matter of serious concern. Crores of rupees are spent on every session of Parliament.
"However, ever since the session began, Question Hour has not taken place in Parliament. Disruptions are being created during Zero Hour as well," Patra told reporters.
"Hardly any Bill is being discussed. The reason behind this is the conduct of the Congress party and some of its INDIA alliance partners. I am genuinely surprised by their double standards," he said, adding that the Opposition might not allow Parliament to function on Tuesday as well.

Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: Nirmala Sitharaman To Introduce Taxation And Other Laws (Amendment) Bill
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to introduce the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, according to the revised List of Business issued by the House.
The Bill seeks to further amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026. Sitharaman will move for leave to introduce the legislation and subsequently introduce the Bill in the House.
The Finance Minister will also lay on the Table an explanatory statement, in Hindi and English, outlining the reasons for immediate legislation through the promulgation of the Income-tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 (No. 2 of 2026).
As part of the legislative business, Sitharaman will move for leave to introduce the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026. She will also lay an explanatory statement outlining the reasons for promulgating the Income-tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 (No. 2 of 2026).

Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: Manish Tewari Submits Adjournment Notice In Lok Sabha
Congress MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday submitted an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha, seeking the suspension of Question Hour, Zero Hour, and all other listed business of the day to discuss the need for a new anti-defection law to curb what he termed "mass political defections" driven by opportunism.
In his notice addressed to the Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha, Tewari stated that he intended to move a motion for the adjournment of the House's business to discuss "a definite matter of urgent public importance."
"I move that this House do suspend Question Hour, Zero Hour, and all other listed business of the day to discuss the contours of a new Anti-Defection Law that proscribes Mass Political Defections driven by opportunism and bereft of any genuine ideological or policy differences while simultaneously providing space for honest and critical dissent both inside and outside Parliament and the legislatures," the notice read.
Tewari said the proposed discussion should focus on framing an anti-defection law that discourages politically motivated defections while safeguarding the space for principled dissent within Parliament and state legislatures.

The central government on Monday introduced the Indian Statistical Institute Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha, laying out a modern statutory framework for the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) with a focused push toward data science, emerging technologies, and strategic industry collaboration.
Union Minister Rao Indrajit Singh introduced the legislation, which seeks to repeal and replace the Indian Statistical Institute Act, 1959 while preserving the institute's designation as an Institution of National Importance.
The legislation aims to transition the existing society into an autonomous statutory body corporate.
The Indian Statistical Institute Bill, 2026 seeks to provide for a comprehensive statutory framework to the Indian Statistical Institute, to excel as a globally recognised centre in Statistical Sciences and allied fields
The legislation expands the statutory definition of Statistical Sciences and it includes "the fields of theoretical and applied statistics, mathematics, economics, data science, computer science and other quantitative sciences including biology, physics and earth sciences; and such other allied fields including quantitative social sciences and modern technologies, such as cryptology and other related disciplines as may be specified by the regulations."
