Srinagar: Militants today carried out two grenade attacks in Kashmir within a span of three hours, killing one person and injuring 14 others, including two BSF jawans.

The militants lobbed a grenade towards BSF personnel stationed at Jhelum Market in Baramulla at around 12.35 pm, police sources said.

Four persons, including two BSF jawans, were injured in the blast. Later, one of the injured civilians - Abdul Gani - succumbed to injuries, they said.

Of the injured BSF jawans, Head Constable U Haldar was shifted to a hospital here in a critical condition.

Three hours later, the ultras tried to target a CRPF vehicle by lobbing a grenade in busy Batamaloo area of the city but missed it, the sources said.

They said the grenade exploded by the roadside, resulting in injuries to 11 persons. The injured where rushed to SMHS hospital where all them were reported to be "stable".

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.

Militants had carried out grenade attacks on CPRF camps on August 14 but today's strikes were the first attacks in crowded areas of Kashmir during the Muslim fasting month of Ramzan.
